Jazz Fest Zelenkovac

Jazz Fest Zelenkovac

This is far from your ordinary jazz festival. Born of an idea derived from an art colony in nature over 20 years ago, the Zelenkovac jazz fest is possibly the most extraordinary music festivals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are no grand halls or acoustic rooms…just the natural amphitheater of the forest of the great northwest frontier. In an attempt to resist the culturally numbing of turbo folk music, the organizers wanted to introduce a more lively, soul-filled, and sophisticated brand of music to the region. Supported for years by US Embassy grants, the festival now boasts an impressive line-up of at least 13 bands per festival, with the likes of Monty Waters from New York, Misa Blam from Tel-Aviv/Belgrade and the Vlatko Stefanovski, one of the regions most famous musicians. It is a remarkable musical experience to hear this type of music in the deep forest with guests from all over the globe and the wider Western Balkan region. www.zelenkovac.com
