Located between the mountains of Prenj, Bjelašnica, and Bitovinja, Konjic is 64 kilometers from Sarajevo. It is on the Neretva River and right next to Jablaničko Lake. Even though it might seem small and an unlikely tourist destination, Konjic has a lot to offer. Due to abundance of water – the Neretva runs through the center of town – Konjic is known as a rafting city. The glacial Boračko Lake and the artificial Jablaničko Lake are both heavenly for fishermen. Also, beautiful beaches and clear water make them popular camping sites. Konjic is most easily recognized by its beautiful, six-arched Old Stone Bridge. The bridge was originally built in 1682. It was destroyed in 1943 by German warplanes. In 2009, 66 years after its destruction, the bridge was rebuilt with funding from the Turkish government.
