Jahorina – 28 kilometers southeast of Sarajevo – is the biggest and most popular ski resort in the country. Those superlatives make this the most complete skiing experience for visitors. Its hotel infrastructure boasts a range of options. There’s a hearty nightlife. The resort has over 20 kilometers of slopes, which are serviced by twelve lifts. Two new six-person chairs were installed. The highest peak here is 1,910 meters and lifts reach the 1,889-meter mark. But the reason to book a trip to Jahorina is because the quality and diversity of the skiing, when the snow is good (which is often), compares to places charging five times more. And, you are certainly not going to buy rakija from a man selling shots right next to the lift line in Zermatt. Nor would you be able to stop at the mid-mountain restaurant and savor thick čorba while warming your hands by the central fireplace, where your stew was just cooked.
